Little River Canyon, Alabama

Today was a beautiful day.  It was a beautiful day to ride too.  About noon time we decided to get on the Magic Carpet and take a ride.  Most of the time we head for NE Georgia and North Carolina to ride.  Today we decided to take a different direction and headed for Alabama and rode to Little River Canyon, east of Fort Payne.  When I’d flown over to Fort Payne before, this National Preserve of the National Park Service was quite visible from the air at near 3,000 feet!  We got to see the falls and the way the water had cut the rock.  The canyon is often referred to as the “Grand Canyon of the East”.  Unfortunately, most of Alabama Highway 176 which parallels the canyon and goes through the preserve was closed off for road construction.  But we took a look at what we could and then headed over to Fort Payne for a late lunch before heading back home.

We did take some scenery pictures which can been seen here.
