We Elected To Ride And Eat

Today was election day.  My friend Frank and I elected to ride up to the Batesville General Store in Clarkesville, GA for their Batesville Burger.  Why not?  It was November and forecast to be sunny and 70 degrees in north Georgia.  We’re just starting the second week of November and most of the fall color has already disappeared from the trees but there was still some to be seen.

Batesville General Store

Frank was riding his Harley Davidson Electra Glide Ultra Classic and I was on the BMW K1200LT.  As we met in Cumming and headed up through Dawson, Habersham and Lumpkin Counties to the General Store.  I was even starting to get quite warm with the liner in my jacket even though on the trip up we never did see that 70 degrees!  Frank had recently gotten a helmet mounted video camera that he’s been playing and experimenting with.  He’s never used it to shoot video footage of any motorcycles in front of him.  So, for a while, he wanted me up front to record some video.  He started recording as we made the left turn at the Sautee General Store and then rode the rest of the way to the Batesville General Store for lunch.  After lunch we headed down to Helen because Frank wanted to look for something in one of the motorcycle shops.  From the motorcycle shop we each headed for home.  I know that in the video below it looks like we went through a stop sign at the end, but we didn’t.  One sign is for a side street on the left and the other is for the sharp right turn.  Had we continued, we would’ve had a yield sign!  If the video stutters, it may play better if you click on the You Tube icon in the lower right corner of the video.
